Payment and Fees

At Stirling Smiles Dental we believe in providing the best quality of dental care that is affordable and accessible. Fees do vary between practices for many reasons however to keep dentistry affordable the practice uses the Australian Dental Association average fee survey as our benchmark.

Full payment is appreciated at the end of each appointment. We offer a range of payment options and accept EFTPOS, all major Credit/Debit Cards, Cash, Private and Health fund Cheques.

HICAPS

HICAPS is a convenient electronic on the spot claiming system used by the majority of  private health funds. This means rebates can be processed on the day of your appointment where the gap is the amount you will need to settle.

Health Funds

Stirling Smiles Dental are preferred providers for HBF, NIB. However all other private health funds are welcome for treatment. Being preferred providers means that our patients are entitled to their maximum benefits dependent on the level of extras cover.

Please note the rebate received from your health fund is not determined by Stirling Smile Dental but calculated according to your level of dental cover. As private health insurance can vary from each health fund as well as between each individual we recommend our patients to check with their health funds directly to clarify what is included in your policy.

Government Dental Schemes

Stirling Smiles Dental participates in the Child’s Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) and also provides treatment for eligible Veteran Affairs patients.

CDCS was implemented by the Australian government in January 2014 with the aim of providing basic dental services to around 3 million children aged 0 - 17. Eligible children are entitled to $1026 in benefits over a 2 year calendar period that can be used for basic dental services like exams, x-rays, cleans fillings, root canals and extractions.

Please refer to the followings links for further information in regards to the CDBS and DVA:

Parking

We have parking onsite. Entry to the parking bays are off Cedric street. To enter our clinic please walk up the pedestrian ramp from the car park and turn right. Our front entrance is facing the road across the park.

Your First Appointment

At Stirling Smile Dental we endeavour to make your dental appointment a positive experience so we have designed our practice to make it comfortable and relaxing where you and your family can feel at home.  Upon arrival our friendly receptionist will give you a warm welcome and invite you to take a seat in our waiting area.

Prior to meeting your dentist, we will ask you to complete a medical and dental questionnaire form which will assist the dentist in understanding your needs and concerns prior to commencing treatment.  This form can also be downloaded here if you prefer to complete it at home and bring it along to your first appointment.

When it’s time for your appointment, your dental assistant will escort you from the waiting room to the dental surgery where you will get settled in the comfortable dental chair.  Prior to the dentist commencing the examination you will be given the opportunity to express any specific concerns that you may have in regards to your oral health and or present possible symptoms that you may be experiencing.

The dentist will then proceed with a comprehensive examination of your teeth and gums which may involve taking some dental x-rays and/or other images of your mouth to help with your diagnosis.  Dental x-rays are important as our naked eye can not accurately check between teeth and under fillings.

Any dental problems and/or conditions (eg decay, gum disease, orthodontic problem) that are detected by the dentist during the examination will be explained using simple language. In addition images and/or photos may be presented on a screen to help your understanding of your dental diagnosis.  All the suitable treatment options will be presented to you with information relating to the risks and side effects of treatment, the procedure involved as well as the costs.  This is to ensure that you make an informed decision prior to proceeding. We understand the information provided at the initial appointment can be overwhelming and we will be happy to answer any questions and if a further appointment is required we will find a convenient time for you.

After your examination,  the dentist may offer a professional scale and clean to remove calculus and plaque present. A fluoride application may also be offered to be  placed on your teeth to help prevent tooth decay and minimise sensitivity. The dentist may also discuss with you methods to improve in tooth brushing, flossing and or diet that will assist in maintaining healthy teeth and gums.

At the conclusion of your appointment a personalised treatment plan with the necessary appointments (number and length) and fees will be provided for you. The dental assistant will lead you back to reception for health fund claiming, payment and booking of any necessary additional appointments to commence treatment. If available a HICAPs quote to determine how much your health fund rebate will be can also be provided.  If no further treatment is required we can book for your next 6 month routine dental check up.

Please contact Stirling Smiles Dental if you have any further questions regarding your first appointment or will like to make an appointment.
